What you think?

Recycling and upcycling are the new buzz words for saving the earth… So what do you think of these to pieces I made out of plastic bags. Do you think they would sell
and what do you think would be a good price. It took a little over an hour to cut and crochet. Honest opinions now … I can take it ..

I'm not keen on them around the neck, however I think they'd be stunning around the waist as a belt especially if they had more colour.

It's imaginative and pretty, but I was just wondering, wouldn't the plastic scarf make your neck sweat?

Dora-Could you crochet them into rugs? I think the plastic would be better for something like that. Great idea though, I applaud you for your creativeness!

Thanks for the belt and rug ideas. Love the ideas. I never thought about sweating around the neck.. Well back to the drawing board … for that one novel idea. giggle

Plarn is awesome, and I wish I had more time to play with it!! I do love the belt and rug ideas. I made a plarn choker before, and it was NOT comfortable. The less skin contact, the better.
But yeah, have fun with it!! Upcycling is definitely "in", and plarn is easy to work with.

I did not know that plastic yarn actually had a name--I love it!
I've seen plarn used to make some pretty awesome totes and purses. The best part about all those plastic bags is that they come in so many different colors, so you can make some truly awesome looking stuff ...

Sad to say that here in New York we have boring bags. They basically come in white with the words thank you in red or a big yellow smiley face.
I have made the bags. They are great for the beach. Also, they make great conversation pieces cause people would look and say "NO can't be, plastic bags"..

It's really great to be able to reuse those bags in useful and pretty ways.

Love the bag idea and even the rug...I'm with everyone else on the neck being a place I don't want plastic. It is super humid in NJ and I think the plastic would really make it unbearable.

If you decide to give it a shot again, try this. Years ago (probably 20) I had a couple of braided rugs that were made from plastic bags. I had one in my kitchen and the other at the garage door coming into the house. They were fabulous! Wore like iron and to clean, just hose them off and set out to dry. I think I had those rugs for about 2 years before they were finally worn out. Sadly I couldn't find them again.

I thought about the rugs .. but was afraid some would hurt themselves.. cause the plastic would be slippery… and then I would get sued…
