Necklace from hell!
« on: August 08, 2010, 06:47:54 PM »
Andrew and I go to a dinner ball in September along with his boss at a convention in Atlantic City and the dress code is "To the 9's!"  So, I thought I would make myself a wow necklace to go with my dress...not ever again!  It is beaded with 20 individual seed bead Edelweiss flowers surrounding 3 colors of Swarovski pearls.  The back is a herringbone tube and the entire thing is connected with more pearls.  Now I love the finished product...even if I've had to take it apart and redo it multiple times!  I am going to put it away right now because I am so tired of looking at it and hopefully be more excited to wear it next month.

LOL When I saw the title I expected some strange atrocity of a necklace that should be banished from the earth's existence. But wow! That's awesome!! How long did it take you??

Talk about a seedy necklace! ()

Thanks everyone.  It really did come out beautiful, it was just so difficult for me to get together right.  The clasp is hidden under all the flowers, and I just couldn't get it to cover they way I wanted to!

I have NO idea how many hours are in it as I had to keep picking it up and putting it down as I got frustrated...a bead weaver I am NOT  :o

Beadweaver I'd say you ARE! It's fabulous, and worth every bit of headache you went through to make it.

Clasp? What freakin' clasp? It looks pretty hidden to me ...

Awe inspiring, Kim, and I do mean the necklace AND you!

... I certainly hope you have drop dead gorgeous dress with a sinfully plunging neckline to show this off! ;)

I think from the title, I was expecting a necklace in reds and oranges. LOL This is stunning. I know you will look beautiful wearing it with your dress. Maybe you can take a pic to share when the time comes. It'd be really nice to see the finished product in its intended environment.

Thanks everyone.  The dress is all black with a plunge front and back...so I needed something!  I'll post pictures after the event.

Wow, Kim, really, really beautiful. You certainly are a bead weaver now. I fear to ask (cause I'll probably be jealous) but was that your first foray into bead weaving?

I've done basic weaving (Peote stitch and a few small projects) but nothing like this one.  I think I will stick to smaller projects and leave big ones to the experts.
