I LOVE this piece. It is awesome, even without reading your blog. And of course, reading the blog made it even more interesting. I love the images, the bicycle wheel, and the wood ~ nice touch. Wow! I am overwhelmed by the sophistication of this piece. Hope you get a pic of it in the show and share that with us too.

Best ~ Linda

I am just stunned by the lovely detail in the flower flags. I wish I could see this in person. Can you explain more about the backgrounds and the three dimensional part of it? It's hard to see. Did you paint the fabric backgrounds? Use dyes? Sew and stuff or just bead? (Just bead...as if...). Love, love, love it!

I start with photos I've taken on my frequent walks, the photos need to have a good ratio of details and background. I then print the images on china silk.

I use a variety of beading techniques, bead embroidery, netting, peyote, fringing, etc - whatever will capture the texture properly. Not all the pieces have 3-D elements and some have many.

Thank you so much to everyone who has shared comments, I really appreciate the feedback. I have many more ideas floating around in my head and I'm encouraged to start the attempt to bring them into creation.

Very WOWZA! How long did it take you to do this? That is simply amazing. In my medium, I could never carve, it would take me FOREVER, and I simply don't have the patience for that.

That is so incredible!  I would spend a lot of time staring at that in any setting... too bad it wouldn't match my decor.   :P

I'll think about it on my bike ride tomorrow night!

oh it would match my decor - a bit of this and a little of that!
Kelly - this is soooo awesome - I just love the whole concept and the way you put it together - what a great find with the wood!
Of course your lovely beadwork is always a joy to see!
