I'd like to get back in on this - I know I am one of those that fell off last time (my apologies) - mostly due to computer problems and then life!  But, I should be able to keep up fairly good at least until the end of July and then I may need to drop out for a while.

Being so new here, I thought being in the blog ring might help me get to know ppl some...   I do need to ask tho...do you have to have a blog here on this site? I see there is one....or can I use my website...which happens to be a wordpress blog site?  I'm perfectly willing to start one here...although I don't have any idea what I'd write about other than the blog ring.  lol.  Pls let me know...and thanks for your patience with me as I go through the learning curve.

No, it's all good.  We each use our own blogs to spotlight each other.  There are two rings right now, because of the number of members involved in this idea, so each Saturday, Kimberly gives us two names, one for each ring.

The members of that ring all write about that one "artist of the week," plus go and comment on each other's blog posts.  A lot of us also comment on the blog posts of the other ring to keep the numbers up.  Plus, it's a good way to learn about the other artist of the week, which is nice.

We also post the links to the blog posts on facebook, twitter, and whatever other social networking accounts we've got.

The idea is to (1) get to know each other better, (2) introduce our blog/facebook/twitter readers to the other artists here, (3) drive up views to each others' blogs & websites, and (4) generally improve marketing for ourselves & each other.

Gosh, I would love to be part of the Blog Ring, but I'm a little over-committed right now - I'm in the Twitter ring, preparing for a holiday craft show, a member of several teams on Etsy/Artfire, working a full time job - in other words, crazy-busy, as I'm sure many of you are.

But I'd like to throw out an idea for a new king of blog ring at some point in the future:  is anyone interested in putting together a "Blog Comments Ring"? I'm still thinking this through, but it could be looser - rather than writing full posts on other artists in our blogs, we make a commitment to visit each other's blogs regularly to increase blog traffic, and contribute comments?

Visiting/commenting on each other's blogs could have a great impact on our Google Analytics, and it's still a great way for us to get to know each other better.  It can be as structured as a weekly ring, or as loose as just starting up a forum thread we call "Blog posts this week."

I often feature other artists in my blog in treasuries, etc., but I find I can only write a few posts a month, and during the last blog ring I was part of, I honored my commitment to the ring first, and didn't really have the time to post anything else (a symptom of my own schedule). 

What are your thoughts? Like me, is there anyone out there who wants to increase their blog traffic, but may not have time for a full blog ring...
