Figured Gaboon African Ebony Bangle Bracelet
« on: March 07, 2010, 05:41:11 PM »
I finally got my ex to agree to let me plunge into one of his larger pieces of ebony. Usually, the larger pieces are full of checks and cracks, but not this time. This is Gaboon ebony, from the western regions of Africa. The lighter brown is common in this wood, but not the figure you see in this one. The wood is actually darker than it appears in the pictures, I lightened it a bit so you could see the figure. It could (the figure) patina with age to where you don't see it as pronounced. The pictures just do not do it justice. 3/8" wide. Finished in teak oil, and buffed to a glassy shine. I will have this one listed later tonight or early tomorrow morning. I couldn't wait to finish this one, it is absolutely stunning.

I've heard of a Gaboon Viper but not Gaboon Ebony.  It is really beautiful!

Thanks Gina!

It's actually a very black wood. I just lightened it some so you could see the figure in the wood. If I hadn't, it wouldn't have shown up as well.

Janelle ~ this is truly exquisite. I love the "feel" of the ebony, and the slight brown tones are gorgeous. Definitely stunning. ~ Linda

This is now listed in my HAF Shop!

Andrew-Will the Google product search still pick it up, as Long as I haven't duplicated the listing on Etsy? By that I mean slightly juggle the title and description wording.

As long as the wording is changed a bit Google will take it!
