I like the matchbook notebook idea and I think it would be neat to thread bind it instead of staple it and then use that to attach a button or some other kind of embellishment on the outside.

Hope you enjoyed your dinner!

That is so cool!  I bought a couple of books on book binding, but haven't gotten around to trying it yet!

Gina, you read my mind!! I was planning to try that--my only worry is whether or not the stitching will be able to handle notes getting torn off of it all the time. So we'll see how that goes! ;) Love the embellishment idea!

Kimberly, it sounds like you have a long list of crafty things you want to try! :D

You have NO idea!!!  My craft book collection would scare many people.  I figure I'll work through a quarter of them before I am to senile to know what I know how to do.

Since, I am a scrapbooker at heart, you can always make matchbook style albums with photos in them.  Grandparents eat that stuff up!

What if you use a heavier gauge thread/cord and/or do double/triple stitching?  I've not tried this kind of thing before but I think it's an awesome idea!  I was thinking, I have a very vague memory of making some kind of book thing in elementary school [once upon a time] and using wallpaper for a decorative cover.  That could be fun to play around with as well.

Hmm, I should try that, Katie! ;)

I could use some of my hemp, although I'm worried that will take up too much space, if I keep the notebooks matchbook-sized. I might make larger ones, eventually, but I would like to try the small sizes first. Double/triple stitching might be a good idea, though! ;) And now you're sounding like my husband! He brought up an old roll of wallpaper from the basement; it's this cool off-white stuff that has a very...earthy, I guess you would say, texture. Now I'm excited to try it, knowing that it's been done before!! ;D
