Trouble Logging Into Blogs
« on: March 04, 2010, 04:57:55 PM »
This is for everyone who is having trouble logging into someone else's blog.
If you are trying to log into someone's blog and it will not let you, check to make sure that you are registered with that particular blog system. There is more than one blog system out there. It seems that most of you are on the blogger or blogspot system. But that doesn't mean that everyone uses that system, and it doesn't mean that you can log into another system.
I use wordpress for my blog and in order to log into my blog, you have to register on wordpress. Now I know that it seems like a lot of trouble for you guys to go through, but I had to register with google in order to log into your blogs. So I hope that you will all go along with this. I find that since I made it so you had to log in, I am not getting the spam like I was before.
Anyway, I hope this clears things up for everyone as to why you can't log into other blogs.

I'm pretty sure I actually have a wordpress account, but it still wouldn't let me.  Maybe I was mistyping my password.  I wouldn't doubt it.

Another thing I've noticed especially with blogger lately (and I am registered and logged in) is that I have to hit submit up to three times to get a comment posted. The first time or two it tells me I can't but then the security words will finally show up and once those are typed in viola my posted is accepted. Not sure why the system isn't just giving me the security words immediately, perhaps it's settings in my browser, FB tends to do that alot too when I'm passing link love around. I just take it as one of the things I have to put up with and work around, kinda like dirty diapers... LOL may not wanna change them but I find I can't ignore it either.

Oddly, my other two blogs are fine, but with my body art blog, when I publish the comments of others, it works fine (I moderate everything).  When I go to write a comment of my own to my own blog, though, it initially says it can't publish it and some error occurred, and then I hit submit again, and it publishes it.  Every time.  And all 3 blogs are on blogger.

I haven't had trouble with anyones blog with the exception of RedFox. I registered with wordpress so I'm hoping when it comes to commenting again, there will not be a problem. :)

Red Foxes blog is self hosted and has nothing to do with wordpress.com, so your username and password for wordpress.com will have no effect on her blog.

Red if you uncheck the box that says users must be registered to comment then they will be a to comment easier. Make sure you have a good spam software like Spam Karma or something like that and you will not have any issues. The forums blog is a self hosted wordpress blog also and I have no issues with people commenting on any post.

Please let me know if I can help
;D

There are two types of installations of wordpress, one is a free blog just like blogger that is hosted on wordpress.com. The other is self hosted, you download the wordpress software and load it on your own domain. Wordpress is a very powerful software when self hosted. You can tell if the site is self hosted or hosted by wordpress by the url. All wordpress hosted sites will have wordpress.com in the url. If you go to wordpress.org you will see all the self hosted addons and information.

Check my signature, the forum blog, chainmaillebymboi.com, and makinthebestofit.com are all self hosted wordpress installations. Blogs hosted on wordpress.com are very limited, just like blogger, they do not give you full freedom of the software.

No, Your comment came through just fine.
I do want to let everyone know that I still haven't solved the  every other comment not showing problem just the name and date. I am still working on that. I know where the problem is, I just don't know how to recode it to fix it. But as soon as I figure it out, I will get it done asap! So please bear with me until then.
