How much do you Pay?

There are many online sales venues out there with a variety of pricing plans. It was very difficult for us to create the price point for the
Handmade Artists' Shop
at $5.00 a month. We just used our previous experience with other venues that we tried, such as Etsy, Artfire, Yessy, Ebay, and more including our own self hosted sites. We felt that our price was inexpensive compared to what we spent on other sites. I guess a lot of it depends on sales or views on specific products. I know we were almost six months before our first sale on Etsy. So looking for your opinions and experience on this as I'm sure it various tremendously for everyone.
Thanks
Andrew

I think $5.00 a month is more than reasonable. The only reason I haven't opened a shop there yet is because I don't have enough items to put in it. I'm already having a hard time keeping enough in my etsy and artfire shops. I need to get creating.

I pay the $5 that goes to the HAF shop. I have the free listing shop on Artfire, and then we have our own site, which is also a webstore. I honestly have no idea what the breakdown is for our own site, because Eric's got an account with godaddy & fatcow, and they have so much space, that he's got a bunch of sites up in the space, with room for more. So I don't know what the cost for ReefBotanicals.com alone would be.

I have multiple venues with different prices - some, like Etsy and MadeIt charge by the listing, others, like Artfire and Zibbet charge by the month. My actual stores cost me around $20 a month but that doesnt include any advertising I pay for - like PW.
I think $5 a month to list as much as you like with no sale commissions is a fabulous deal.

I think $5 is a gangbusters price in comparison to the other sites. On the average, I pay $6-8 monthly to Etsy for new listings and renewals. I think as the word gets out, you will have all the vendors your heart desires, and then some.

In my country there is a similar etsy shop, which is called Breslo, that supports Romanian handmade artists to sell their products. It is not as big as etsy, but it work really well at a fraction of the price ( 3,5 $ /month).

I've got multiple venues, with listings on ArtFire, Bonanzle, eCrater and Etsy. I've been trying to compare results. Etsy is the most expensive of the group, with both listing and final value fees. Bonanzle has final value fees and restricts some features to those who also pay membership fees. ArtFire is free, but some features are only available to those who pay to be Pro members. eCrater is totally free, and it's really easy to list there (Etsy is far and away the hardest). So eCrater offers the most features for the best price, but it's not limited to handmade and I'm not clear how this might affect sales.

I managed to get in on the $7/mo on ArtFire and Etsy - well I don't list much there anymore, most of fees for the past few months have been around $4.
I think the $5 fee is very reasonable! and someday I'll get my banner finished up and get things listed there!

My website, with all of the bells and whistles and add-ons I needed to get it working is probably in the $20-$25/month range.

We have a couple of online venues including Art Fire, Create, Invent & Sell, Zibbet, eCrater and the new HAFShop - which since opening a couple of days ago has been good!
Our Art Fire shop is free, as we were one of the very first to sign up for AF in 2008. CIS, Zibbet, & eCrater shops are all free (or basic) as well and we pay approximately $3.00 per month for our own website (

I only sell on etsy right now, and I don't renew because I think it's a waste of money on etsy as the jewelry category is very large and you get buried very quickly, so my etsy bill is less than 10 a month for listing items - it goes up if I make sales, and occasionally I will buy an ad on another site, but I haven't spent more than 15 for an ad yet, and only have done it a few times. I am thinking of looking at 1000markets, but have yet to cost that out, and I should investigate the shop here at HAF - I am just getting started here, so I am still getting acclimated. I would be willing to spend more, I just don't feel that I am getting a lot for my money on etsy right now, so I won't spend extra on showcases etc there.
